Now... Jakurai. tbh I find it hard to like, explain what I wanna say about him but I'll try. His badges are lined up diagonally across his shirt. It's like, if I think of these as stitches, that his wound is one that was slashed across his whole torso.

Hifumi, on the other hand, does have deeply rooted trauma to heal from, thus needs a lot more badges than Doppo. One thing I like about Hifumi's badges is that, they're not really pinned to his outfit and are just. hanging there. He could take them off at any moment, just like his jacket.

This lead me to think about the symbolism for each of them. So I'll just start with the one who doesn't spam use his badge: Doppo. The badge is only on his necktie. The necktie in itself represents Doppo's state as a salaryman. His work is what binds him and is 100% the source behind his stress.

So to start off, Matenro's badge is a square cross with pointy edges. The square cross has strong ties to christianity and medicine and ofc this definitely fits the division lead by the doctor in the cast, that also happens to have lots of religious references in it.
