Was the account created as if it was in america, or tied to an american phone number? The ban seems to be based on the actual accounts and not just generally, so as to stop circumvention by vpns and the like.

Going to instagram is exactly what they want us to do, which is why we shouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

People are saying it's on an account basis. Any american account, even if somewhere else, is locked out. But americans that made accounts set as other countries are fine. Probably so it can't be circumvented by vpn and the like.
