Living in a 1930s house in California, so there's a significant risk of old-house stories. Otherwise, expect some combination of cooking, computers, biochemistry, skiing, and hiking.

The problem is the false belief that really smart people are only found in the tech founder class, and that problems in other domains can't be harder or different than building an internet business. Therefore, they erroneously conclude everyone else has been sandbagging.

A lot of people think that, but it's the imbalance between the black and yellow bile, actually. :-)

We are still finding new gross anatomy in humans - like, oh hey, this large nerve has never been described before umm... 2019.
Previous rounds have included "we don't need animal testing" and variations on "what do you mean we can't just reboot those people?".

Yeah. I worked on the human genome project as a lab tech before moving into computers. Every 4-5 years there's a wave of tech execs saying biology/medicine can't be hard and they'll get new drugs to market in like 2 years to cure death or whatever. 1/2

The first I heard of him was Playboy magazine in ... 1987 ... giving him the "asshole of the year" award as part of some annual round-up article.

Fwiw, your demonstration of how little water a dishwasher uses has saved our family a huge amount of stress over "no, it will hold one more spoon so don't run it yet" issues.

I suspect that was an auto-labeling error on the photo of tear gas shells.

Also, compared to our usual ballots, deciding one issue that proposes a straightforward change with a sunset clause is a walk in the park.

There is a lot of individual variation there. My spouse took both shingles shots in stride, basically no excitement. I felt like I had 2 days of Big Flu that hit a few hours after the shot, both times. But yeah, get that first shot on a Friday afternoon.

I think the recommended age is 50, fwiw. Getting the vax for this is also correlated with a decrease in later-life dementia, so it appears to be a double win there.

Not relevant to your question, but the shingles vaccine took me out for 2 full days each dose. Beats shingles though.

My flu shot (with covid shot at the same time) was just normal. A little run down for an evening.
