BTW here’s a photo from 1992, when George HW Bush announced using the Insurrection Act. But CNN wouldn’t run this because it would be boring…and not inflammatory.

Dear CNN,

When you next report on the “chaos” in Chicago in 2025, please be sure to use this painting of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 for the article.

On a flight home, woman in next row is reading HORROR MOVIE by @paultremblay.bsky.social .

I wanted to take a photo of the cover but for the whole three hour flight she just kept turning the pages.

Can’t think of a higher compliment to a writer.

Took our 14 year old to see THE LONG WALK today.

Genuinely moving and well made. Excellent film.

The bonds between the young men were allowed to be surprisingly tender in a way I’d love to see more in films with male friendships.

The worm scene is amazing and gross!

And it gave us this glorious nightmare a little later.

A lot of people never watched Poltergeist 2, and it shows.

Finally watched 28 Years Later. An incredible film. I loved it.

Sorry I didn’t get it together to watch it in theaters. I’ll be sure to see the next one on the big screen when it comes.

My publisher released four of my novels with new gorgeous covers by the great Yuko Shimizu.

They’re calling it the LaValle Quartet though each book stands alone.

Just look at these things!

They’re in bookstores now.

Dropped one kid off at camp out of state, stopped for dinner. Had an Old Fashioned and two very fine glasses of Cabernet.

Rather than going on some tipsy screed about why we won’t get season 2 of the Changeling, I took a photo of my water bottle.

It says all I need to, really.

Watched MOUNTAINHEAD this weekend. I appreciated that the underlying point, as I saw it, is that there are no good billionaires.

The complete lack of connection with all human feeling and empathy was chilling & convincing.

If you called this a horror movie I would not argue.
