only the occasional morbid truth bubble. promise. the rest is ridiculousness.
besides the tapas on someone else’s camera roll, empanadas from Malvón kept us fed and allergy safe; found Azkuna Zentroa and an exhibit by Chiharu Shiota i can neither explain or ever forget; illustrated David Lynch poster makes me happy; down minutes before the train, watching the pups.

grateful for surprises: finally getting the Yayoi Kusama experience i wanted after missing her 3x; Barbara Kruger work that reminds me of someone essential; that chance to walk through more massive Richard Serra structures but now in cool indoors. plus bldg interior where crazy seams meet.

yes we came to Bilbao for the Guggenheim. stunned by much more, but the museum lived up to every expectation. even if they didn’t display their Richter painting(s).
the famed Frank Gehry building; greeted by Koons’s flower puppy; a Basquiat in a Helen Frankenthaler exhibit; Koons’s balloon flowers

highlights in 1 Bilbao poster; a red funicular took us to a gorgeous overlook of the city; coffee at the perfect Unamuno Miguel Plaza; a Calatrava bridge over the water

then to Bilbao. you’d prob wish me unwell if i posted everything i wanted to from Bilbao. amazing.
Gaudí architecture or influences already; the city’s oldest church Catedral de Santiago; dress #7 check it, it’s green; just balconies & windows alone in this city deserve a pic

also found Vermouth/Vermut before leaving Madrid, plus many Argentinian influences to nod to my favorite Argentinians & pride displays. E will appreciate this pre-train popsicle that matches the wedding colors <3

don’t miss looking up Huguette Caland if you don’t know, bc probly found a new favorite artist. Néstor paintings were mind-blowing but unfortunately every one i captured has a nude in it (sorry). we found nut & sesame free churros & chocolate at Chocolateria San Gines the next day (¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!)

at Reina Sofia it was a thrill to see the Guernica in person; more amazing includes Dalí, Man Ray and Miró.
July 17, 2025 at 6:37 PM
magnificent Madrid structures at night; the Bear of Sol (a place we kept returning to); and even the mascots didn’t break for the heat at the Plaza Mayor.
July 17, 2025 at 6:28 PM
saw all the Spanish classic artists at The Prado (Goya and more) but no photography allowed inside; an interesting graphic to mind the gap, dress #6 was red

music at El Rasto
July 17, 2025 at 6:14 PM
in Madrid, was very difficult to food that didn’t contain/may contain allergens we gotta avoid. it’s a massive city, super exhausting and inspiring in grandeur. dress #4 is blue; a print shop with cool signs, books & t-shirts; El Rasto was a market & music experience the size of Rhode Island

pretty sure there’s a castle in the distance but i just like that the focus ended up on the foreground wheat & greenery
July 17, 2025 at 6:04 PM
the pier of Ballyvaughan; the field of cows (i kid you not) right up against the local grocery store (only divided by a rock wall - i got too close and spooked a poor lass). more ubiquitous rock walls surrounding ubiquitous beauty
July 17, 2025 at 6:01 PM
yellow, orange & purple wildflowers of Ballyvaughan, Ireland; plus a more curated flower collection
July 17, 2025 at 5:55 PM
it’s been a busy few days w low battery & connectivity. dress #3 is also black but that changes soon; where i stuck my feet into the frigid atlantic, the rugged terrain of Doolin, Ireland; a view of the western coast & its mini beaches
July 17, 2025 at 5:53 PM
son is with us now. last day in ireland took us to his temp home in Ballyvaughan, the school inside a castle in The Burren, examples of unique eco study of the area, down to Doolin and a view of the Cliffs of Mohr, better known as the very real Cliffs of Insanity.

did ireland perfect the flower box, like, every freaking where? when the petals fall, it’s like party confetti all over the ground. clearly it puts butts in seats.

and what the heck? word to my brother.

a sailboat returning to town, a mural of youth, jen don’t read the irish newspaper spoiler if you’re not caught up to thursday’s stage, and i finally meet the Galway girl, the subject of one of the catchiest tunes of all time
July 12, 2025 at 12:30 AM
climbing fuscia flowers up a storefront face (how? tell me!), flower shop front and nod to my hydrangea friend, endearing crisps character called Tayto, colorful wood toy store window
July 12, 2025 at 12:15 AM

some dogs of Galway - the owner of Miley (splooting) gave me permission, but not sure now if she agreed. lastly, a nod to the ‘dogs.
July 11, 2025 at 11:58 PM
dress #2; if Dublin was referential and reverential to its past, in contrast Galway was bursting with its youth. such a gorgeous day - and every green patch of grass had young ppl soaking up the sunshine
July 11, 2025 at 11:52 PM
leaving Dublin and its pointy things, Black Dog Coffee on the way to Galway
