Obviously the risk is that if people *aren't* convinced it's different then it might seem more like "lawfare" than justice. Le Figaro (right wing but mainstream newspaper) is running a poll today asking whether readers think the sentence is justified and currently 63% say no.

Some (very) long awaited administrative progress today related to the extremely protracted process of settling my late father’s estate. (Anyone who has had to do this will probably sympathise!) Enjoying a quiet G&T before going back to watch the second half of rugby training.

If you have to be in a shopping centre with a toddler, this surely is the best time for it: you get to watch each shop open up its security barrier one by one and then trundle out the rubbish.

Bit of snow in Paris this morning. Not much to look at (except for the lovely trees), but it is extremely slippery, nothing seems to have been gritted. This is Place Monge, where there's a big market three times a week.
