Roads entering Luneta are also blocked. There is police and law enforcement present this morning, but the rally thus far as been peaceful and positive— despite the heat.

In light of Sea Games 2025 in Thailand, the Basketball season’s schedule will be released next week.

A follow up Basketball Press Conference will take place on September 15, 2025 ahead of the opening game on September 20.

Given that UST’s location in España is very flood prone, “tuloy ang opening ceremony kung normal na ulan lang.” The priests also joked that the rain is also a part of the UST experience.

For heavy rains, the outdoor opening ceremony may be moved to the next Monday on September 22.

Recently, the PBA also submitted a request to the UAAP, to allow athletes to join the draft before their UAAP season ends. According to Fr. Cansancio, they need to further discuss this policy matter since it may also affect other sports.

The UAAP has also been in talks with the Philippine Sports Commission to introduce Olympic aligned sports to the league. Fr. Cansancio said that they’re still looking into it, and are taking various factors into consideration.

With regards to Season 88’s schedule, Judo and Taekwondo will be transferred to the second quarter of the season, which will happen early next year. UAAP Highschool Baseball and Boy's Tennis will also be debuted this in Season 88.

The opening programs will be open to the UAAP schools, with an allocation of 1,000 guests per schools; aside from the UST community. Ticket and ID’s will be required.

They acknowledged the logistical problem of the UAAP this season, given that the FIVB Worlds will take place in major venues like MOA and Araneta Coliseum next month. This is also an additional reason to have the opening events and games in the UST campus and the Quadricentennial Pavilion.
