A little bit of aurora action.
Unusual this far north.
Must be great down in Tassie.

Finally, a calm sunny day.
Still chilly though.

I'm a bit scared of getting a bass guitar.
One is never enough.

Mayo might be the superior option for buttered cat arrays.

Good morning for Merlin bird ID.
It recognised 8 birds, so getting much better at Aus birds.
Up to 40% of local birds now in sound ID.

I actually found a half-decent page for regional weather, but the formatting is bad.
Too much scroll-searching dt excess white-space.
Most of the data feeds to this site were automated scripts done by boffins years ago. It's mostly time-series, but even gridded data is near trivial.
Alas, regress 🤦‍♂️

I reckon that roar outside might be rain! There's ten pixels that suggest so...

Quite happy with how the guitar kit turned out.
Colour is mix of burnt umber and hooker green, finish is gun wax.
The neck had vines, so I added roots with a soldering iron. (Fun!)
Mostly setup now and plays quite well!
Floyd Rose system is a bit of a pia, but no slidey bits does seem to work.

Not too bad up here in the NE, but the clouds are weird.

Guitar kit progress.
Rough cut an idea, then rejected it. Gone with simple and clean.
Most shaping now done, just a bit more for comfort.
Glad to be done with neck fit sculpting!
Smoothing and scrimshaw next.

We had a leader like that.
Here's "ScoMo" forcing a young women to shake his hand.

Guitar kit arrived!
Lighter than expected. Neck and fretwork seem excellent, as does all the hardware and pre-done soldering. It should play well.
First up is finding exact neck position to the mm and drilling the only important (scary) holes in this build.

Something I read years ago:
CO2 is the primer, Methane the charge, and water vapor the bullet.
The climate record is *anything* but smooth and linear on pretty much all scales too. We should expect massive, scary jumps, not nice peaceful (adaptable) gradients.

Sadly, most of the footage from 20 years of jumping was lost on mag tape static or faded prints, but I did save a few shots.
A 4-way exit over Bachelor, NT.
(I have a lousy RW body position!)

The modern AFF way is much better than static line.
The sensory overload is overcome ten seconds out the door, and with two jumpmasters and an AAD, very safe.
Students who couldn't get up to speed did first jump as a tandem.

Yeah, a wing comes in handy for that bit!
(I am in more control than it looks in this shot!)
October 12, 2025 at 8:37 PM
It's so windy that even the BOM satellite is struggling!
October 12, 2025 at 4:22 AM
Playing with ideas for the next kit build.
I'm going to town on this one.
7 string with Floyd Rose system.
October 12, 2025 at 1:34 AM
Wings are overrated.
October 11, 2025 at 11:08 PM
They all would.
But we'd be going "Awwww!" while they do it!

Borneo sky update.

As is fitting
