Since these people are literally using "woke" to mean "entertained the thought of hiring a Black person," opposition to DEI, affirmative action, etc. should be understood as support for segregation

Lists of military leaders to be targeted because they support increasing diversity in the military. This is very serious. @apnews.com @nytimes.com @washingtonpost.com and other outlets please don’t take up the description of these ofcrs as “woke.”

#Industry studies: I think when people have written on DEI as “industry” it’s usually some kind of negative screed. But other social-focused industries also get some more positive (or at least more balanced) takes. I’m thinking environmental consultants etc.

I have a dream: a world in which engineering/tech students all learn basic social science, social scientists all learn basic thermodynamics, & both spend at least two semesters learning ecology. Might place us to at least start on adequate solutions to urgent global challenges.

Different meanings of "merit": What do elites actually mean when they justify their status with merit? Drawing on interviews in DK and the UK, @samfriedman.bsky.social et al. distinguish UK Talent Meritocrats from Danish Hard Work Meritocrats. This is right down my alley!
