One our foster would eat, then always came straight to us, put her front feet up between us on the sofa to get nice and close, and with a waggy tail loudly burp 3 times (always 3) in our faces. The bestest of girls.

I had a foster who was waking at 3am. Worked out she was getting chilly. PJs helped. Plus I would check she was under her blanket if I got up in the night. She would sleep through if warm.

I have been using SUSE on Linux but I have a techie other half who I sometimes need although I can generally google the answers to the rare problem. But agree Ubuntu is probably a good start and running on the USB can also be handy until you are happy to move over fully.

Really good, the old wooden floor shook! Nick Lowe made a guest appearance on stage and sang a couple of numbers as well. I think he may have been producing him at the time.
