Commissioned in 1865, right as the U.S. Civil War ended, the Statue of Liberty was originally designed holding broken chains in her left hand—this fact has been whitewashed from history b/c of the clear allusion to U.S. chattel slavery; the chains were replaced by the current tablet-like object. 🇺🇸

Final day scrolling on TikTok...the last video was a male skater in a European opulent location, haunting music...then it was just over. How DARE they take away the free expression and speech of 170M people. I am livid. I hate it here.

The Tulsa Race Massacre was not committed by an uncontrolled mob but was the result of “a coordinated, military-style attack” by white citizens, the Justice Department said in a report. It was the first time the U.S. government has given an official account of the 1921 massacre of Black residents.
