Growing things and making things always makes me feel more alive and hopeful. I'm into African violets, cross stitch, loom knitting and origami. I love to see what creative stuff other people are doing!

Rümeysa Öztürk writes about her experience in ICE detention, an experience filled with both despair and the touching humanity of the other women imprisoned with her.

Make no mistake; human rights abuse is happening here and it is heartbreaking. 😞

Tufts University doctoral student Rümeysa Öztürk opens up about her 45 days in a South Louisiana processing facility—and the generous and compassionate women she met.

We attended the Peace Train Caravan for the 4th of July - a great idea for a protest in our hot desert! The quote on the back says, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." - Howard Zinn

The list has all the words you might suspect; it doesn't stop there. AT RISK are other HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED groups: WOMEN, and people with DISABILITIES or MENTAL HEALTH issues. This is a POLITICAL attack on free speech.

Every capitalized word above is on the list. This is OPPRESSION.
The Words Federal Agencies Are Discouraged From Using Under Trump
Federal agencies have issued guidance to employees on hundreds of terms to limit or avoid using. An analysis of government websites shows many of the same words being removed.

🌿 Really enjoying this! Robin Wall Kimmerer shares both Native American wisdom and and her botanist background with plants. Plants bring vitality to a home, and I feel grateful when plants thrive. This book gives me that same sort of feeling, too.

This African violet lives on my nightstand and brings me joy first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It's a trailing violet called Rob's Galiwinku (R. Robinson)
