All the systems we created are gone due to a 1.7 million dollar budget deficit. The state could have used rainy day funds to help schools create better reading/math intervention systems. They could fund classroom libraries. Or fund after-school tutoring clinics.

It depends on the kid. My youngest said he wasn't ready for college when he graduated because he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. He got a CNA certification, and that's helped him get by pretty well. Now he has a direction and wants to do nuclear medicine. They just need a direction...
