Felt! I had the album all summer, yet I could only start writing two weeks ago. I then ended up rewriting a lot because it's hard to find a point to start on, and I found it difficult to precisely capture how I felt listening to it. (and just saying "AAAAA" was not enough, apparently...)

wholeheartedly agree. i love how the intentionally stupid bits bring a sense of grounding to the album, highlighting grief a non-unique experience. it only makes the more personal moments all the more dramatic and gutting. there’s so much heart and thought put into shropshire. fendrix forever

ik i’ll never have the full picture, so i appreciate ur insight! There were some points i had prepped about class/regionalism i cut due to time, which sucks bc ik it’s not holistic. Genuinely curious, what else about “we’re not america” is important besides not charting here/reacting against grunge?

im so honored, thank you! i didnt see many writers citing the Troubles as vital background information for this greater movement to define “Britain” through britpop (mostly anxiety over the EU and the economy), so i wanted to take a big swing and argue something new. glad it resonates :)
