I knew a bit about Nasuverse lore beforehand and I've always loved how ORT has always been one of the most unknowable beings. It's a "Dead Apostle" simply because there was no other classification that fit.

It's a THING from space that showed up and hasn't annihilated everything out of sheer luck.

Up until now the threat has always been mankind's extinction, bleaching of Earth, history being rewritten, incineration, etc.

Surprisingly, at no point has the threat been "the Earth will be PHYSICALLY destroyed".

Sadly I knew about this thanks to the 2 years of non-avoidable spoilers, but seeing that "10,000,000" number and the *several* new break bar colors show up still made me mutter "holy shit"

My theory is that it wasn't planned in the original pitch / planning, but somewhere along the way of actually drawing the first 3 chapters Toriyama decided on a slightly different approach.

That and/or editor meddling which afaik there was a lot of in DB.

I've always wondered when Toriyama decided on the shift, since it's clear Dragon Ball wasn't meant to go into hard martial arts / 1v1 battles territory at first.

But it had to be very close after starting since otherwise finding the dragon balls would've taken a bigger chunk of story, I think.

I can understand why. Personally his 2nd asc irks me the most for some reason. But it makes a lot of sense, to me, that the god of death and war and destruction would choose White Guy With a Gun as his avatar.

I see a faint argument for Quetzalcoatl as well but the story and her character never really address it so it's not a strong enough argument

But for Tezca... I guess I can tolerate it.
