#NP Sevdaliza | Heroina

To paraphrase Sevdaliza no me cansare (de este disco) First few spins on vinyl for me of Heroina and it's totally hit the musical sweet spot. Beautifully realised pop music, and already my soundtrack to summer '26 😎

Lush’s ‘A Far From Home Movie’ is available to watch on YouTube now. Celebrating the life of Chris Acland, the film compiles candid Super 8 footage taken by Phil King during Lush’s time touring from 1992-1996.

The film is also available to watch on Criterion Channel

#NP Agnes Haus | Inexorable Ascent

Not quite sure if it was intended but I drifted off somewhere between Sacrifice and Temporal only to enter was truly felt like the last thirty minutes of Béla Tarr's The Turin Horse. I count myself among the faint hearted, but am going back for a second round 👌

Yann's last concert in St. Lukes in Cork 🇮🇪 had to be cancelled due to poor sailing conditions at the time. Not quite sure about the weather conditions in late January, but we live in hope and this is very good news indeed 👍 😊

#NP Julie Dawson I Bottom Of The Pool

I will hold my hand up and say I was definitely a little later to this brilliant release, about a year to be precise. But I'm here now and it's a fantastic listen. Pure JD but filtered through a sparkling electropop prism. What a talent 👌 🎶 👍

#NP Penelope Trappes | Æternum

Just to note that the 45 rpm vinyl cut of Æternum is simply wonderful, there's such a great 'presence' on the pressing. The minimal art also works a treat, as does the inclusion of an Agnes Haus polaroid. To be treasured 👌

Lá Duchesse is back. Missing for a while, and much missed. The journey home from the local record emporium becomes ever more complicated 😊

It's the 'vintage', but what I never knew until tonight was that Skids last gig with Stuart was here in Cork 🇮🇪 at the Arc. That night's etched on my mind, so tonight's 'return' was extra special, very special. Time dissipates when the songs and music are so good ♥️

#NP Penelope Trappes | Æternum

A beautiful companion piece to the A Requiem album released earlier this year. Perfect listening for these newly darkened evenings, reflective, evocative and to these ears at least not without a celtic influence. Digital for the moment, but the vinyl gods are at work.

#NP Just Mustard | We Were Just Here

First few spins on vinyl for me of the band's third and it's clear that it's more than worthy of all the plaudits coming its way. A far less introspective and more adventurous sound. A few headphones listens are definitely called for. Quite addictive 👌 🎶 👍

#NP David Sylvian I Gone To Earth

Discounting the 'new money for old rope' argument, this recent run of David Sylvian reissues are visually stunning. Gone To Earth's double pressing is simply breathtaking. Fifth copy as far as I can tell 😊

#NP Melaine Dalibert and David Sylvian I Vermilion Hours

My vinyl copy of this wonderful musical dialogue between two of my favourite musicians finally made it safely across the Celtic Sea after many, many months. A beautiful pressing, and stunning artwork, so very much worth the wait 👌 🎶 🙏

#NP Bob Dylan | Street Legal

First (!) ever spin on vinyl for me of what teenage me totally discounted, but which time has thankfully revealed to be one of my favourite BD albums. Sometimes it's worth waiting to hit the musical sweet spot.

Just to note that The Congos were always legends in Passage, and they truly sealed the deal last night in St. Lukes. 'The Show Must Go On'. Brilliant review of a truly amazing gig here by Des. Forward 🇯🇲 🇮🇪

The Congos review: Jamaican veterans bring the reggae vibes to former Cork church
Illness ensured one of The Congos couldn't make it to St Luke's, but the rest of the band still managed a hugely-enjoyable gig as part of the jazz festival

#NP OMD | Crush (disc 2, 40th anniversary CD edition)

The band styling of the time was a little dubious to say the least, but the musical treasures on this bonus CD of the 40th anniversary of Crush have more than stood the test of time. A top class reissue 👌 🎶 👍
