Quite frankly, the only other chrimbles that comes close to this year’s Absolute Fucking Insanity is the year we had to put our family dog down on Christmas Eve

This is essentially the family equivalent of the band playing on as the Titanic sank.

Weather is plot. Nature is plot. These are huge forces that can make or break a character, that can set the scene, determine pacing, etc. I much prefer it when authors leave those details in. I want to feel the world the characters inhabit.

Some men (and women) will stay in a band with their ex for 20 years writing banger after banger after banger about each other rather than go to therapy. And to be honest, I think we’re all the richer for it
