His level of forethought like that is what made him the comedic and performative genius that he was.

Just like his ad libbed line in Blazing Saddles; "You're dealing with people of the land.... You know, morons"

This movie was also near 100% improv.

When Disney showed up to pick up the script for the Vault, it was hundreds of boxes of loose papers, drawings on napkins and random post-its along with the final scene frames and art.

Gene's only stipulation to taking the role as Wonka after reading the script was they change the opening scene to allow him to walk out with the cane and limp followed with the gymnastic role.

I do not disagree. And neither do MANY Democrats in office. So much that they tried to push the "For the People Act" a little more than 3 years ago, that unfortunately did not make it past the Senate.

It is a campaign finance reform law that would have helped to, effectively, kill Citizens United.

Maybe a very small handful of them.

The true problem is their inability to be confrontational. They're too timid and afraid to break the status quo. "There's a way things are supposed to be done" and it's lead to a lot of inaction.

So my point stands; Flex our power at the ballot box.

Because historically, it is the pressure, push back and refusal of the People, not the elected, that tears down authoritarian and dictator regimes.

We are the power behind the elected. And must continue to flex that power without pause in the streets and on the ballot.

Yes you are correct. Our elected officials need to be more aggressive against the current regime. However, there is precious little they can do legislatively or judicially until they take back the majority in both houses.

So, yes, the onis falls to the governed...
