Software Engineer (ReactJS, NodeJS) based in Salisbury, UK. Play #guitar badly, speak #French to a decent standard and Spanish at a beginner standard. I don't have a book problem, just a time to read them all problem. Amateur #woodworker and #woodturner.
Visited Ely Cathedral today. An incredible place and the octagon is a particular highlight.

The fly tipping just makes me sad. I report it to the council and they just say "not our land, not our problem". There are barrels marked with labels showing the contents cause environmental damage. This field is next to the River Bourne.

@albayliss.bsky.social any thoughts?

I've only been to one #baseball game in my life. It was fun and I have good memories (though it did seem to take forever). Just found the ticket for it which is pretty cool 😁

Installed my new #BoschMicroplasticFilter for my washing machine. Was really easy. Done my first wash with it with it connected (with regular checks for leaks) and it already filtered out stuff and stopped it ending up in the water supply.

@nathanlents.bsky.social Thanks for the incredible talk at #CheltSciFest. Truly enlightening and really positive. Hopefully we can get people in power to start recognising diversity. It was me that mentioned meeting the couple from Florida talking about your president 😂

Awesome time at Dalemain. Beautiful house with an excellent tour. The gardens were beautiful. We finished off with afternoon tea and bought lots of delicious marmelade from the home of the 'international marmelade awards'.

Today was a visit to the ruins of Lowther Castle. This was still the functioning residence of the Lowther family until 1936. In 1948, neck deep in gambling debt, the Earl auctioned off everything. He then ripped the roof off in 1954 and left the castle to ruin.

Beautiful day in Keswick with a walk along the edge of Derwent water.

Lovely visit to Acorn Bank @nationaltrust.org.uk today. The staff were amazing, excellent cafe and the mill was fascinating. The wild garlic and bluebells brought the woodland walk to life and an awesome bookshop as usual.

Well, this turned out a lot better. Ready for people to come a sign with a pyrography pen now 😁

Used Sycamore this time, much easier to turn.

You think you're doing well at #woodturning. Then you try to turn a Poplar bowl.

Was awful to work with, even with sharp tools it kept tearing. Spent a long time trying to get a smooth finish.

Then I messed it up at the end when the chisel caught. Bowl is in the bin. I'm not using Poplar again.

Had a really fun game of Perch from Inside Up Games this evening. It was the first play through, so a bit slow to start with but it's a fairly light ruleset so we picked it up fast. It's a very thinky game!

I see that the huge amount of fly tipping on the walkway that goes between Southampton Road and Milford House Care Home has been set fire to recently. There are, from what I can see there, 7 fridges/freezers, a couple of gas bottles, some drums of something plus loads of other things.

Look what arrived yesterday 😂

Went and looked at some rocks in a field today. They were very pretty 😁

The @englishheritage.bsky.social staff were as usual fantastic, friendly and informative. #yourstonehenge

Amazing visit to Stourhead @nationaltrust.org.uk today. Managed to get a beautifully framed photo of a swan on its next near the Temple of Apollo.

Got a set of adaptors for my Henry hoover so that I can link up my #woodwork tools in my #workshop for dust extraction. Pleased with how easy they are. Only my Bosch orbital sander needed an extra adaptor.

(they haven't asked me to do this, I just love the set!)

A lovely visit today to Mottisfont @nationaltrust.bsky.social . The grounds are incredible and the house is great too. I love the Whistler room inside the house.

The grounds are full of some truly magnificent trees including some 300 year old plane trees.

Well, today I had to go and rescue a lost child in #ZombiesRun. Was a fun mission, and I went a lot faster than I have been!

I've seen them live several times now. They are truly incredible and something to be experienced. Last time I saw them was their Christmas concert in Arundel Cathedral in Dec 2023. Seem them in St John Smiths square twice and Ely Cathedral.

My third run with Zombies Run! Definitely getting faster and I also did half a km more. Felt good at the end too.
