Seeing “The Day the Earth Stood Still” from 1951, fills an odd trivia gap for me: See, this movie is referenced in the very first line from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and now I know who Michael Rennie is! Also, it wasn’t on our list, but technically, Rocky Horror is also a First Contact movie.

I am very impressed by the Nintendo Switch 2. The new games are great fun, but even running the old games on the new system is like having a graphics upgrade. I’ve bought every system since the Nintendo 64, never had one fail, and counted each one as a winner. images.ladbible.com/resize?type=...

Errands after work today, but I had a delightful scammer to keep me engaged. Maybe I should get back to writing fiction…..

Your shortish read on the Solstice about seasonal flexibility in Society: "No social order is inevitable. No structure of power or inequality is fixed. Seasonal Adaptability has defined our species since its origins. www.sapiens.org/biology/fora...
How Societies Morph With the Seasons
An anthropologist chronicles radical changes foragers undertake seasonally—and how the rigidity of industrialized societies is an anomaly.

8,000 people protested in Santa Cruz this morning. The largest turnout I’ve seen here. Good vibes.

It’s my birthday month! The actual date is Monday the 9th, but that’s just the start. Later in June I’m taking 20 friends to a baseball game, attending an epic metal concert, and working a really fun camping festival to finish out the month. In between there might be interview(s) for a job promotion

Putting up fliers today, and came across one of these. What offends me here is not the info so much (everyone is entitled to their own stupid opinions) but the grammar: One cannot be very sick AND dead; it’s one or the other. 😵‍💫

There comes a time when your computer just can’t be upgraded anymore. That time, for my desktop, was about a year ago. #taps

Keep in mind that the folks who are saying that DOGE is there to save money by slashing the federal budget are the same people who just gave the top 1% a 4.5 TRILLION dollar tax cut.

Say what you will about #Costco, but I just got 6 lbs. peanut butter, 4 lbs. raisins, 6lbs trail mix, 8 bananas, 40 Duracell AA batteries, a pair of jeans, a hot dog and a lemonade for less than $100. Add in friendly folks, a positive atmosphere, and owners who aren’t cowardly racist assholes. ftw.

I've seen 19 out of these 34 places. I had to look up a few! And man, there just aint much to see in the midwest and deep South, apparently, aside from Florida.
