I figure anything they release will have such heinous connotations for the redacted parts that people with be demanding to know more, and who specifically was involved, and with Trump already profoundly connected he will be impossible not to implicate.

I think there is a real possibility some are looking for an off-ramp, though. And not out of any sense of decency but instead realizing this loon might start a second civil war and if they start it we will end it.

And the reason that I think they have the best chance of anything to date is that the Epstein files have the best chance of carving into that strange 35 (or so) percent of people in this country who have been entirely unwilling to attribute anything negative to Trump.

I don't think anyone should assume that this will end Trump's presidency, but I would argue it has the best chance of anything to date. The bigger issue is Democratic leadership would likely fumble any attempt at accountability, but maybe that would be obviated by their members being named as well.

This tendency is backfiring noticeably here, though. I've said elsewhere, but what makes the Epstein files especially damaging is that they've a. been a huge pet issue with the Right that Trump has stoked when it's suited him and b. Trump's Streisand Effecting off the charts here to shut it down.

Yeah, I'm kind of fine with he should not have been allowed to run in the first place because it violated the 14th Amendment, and that's where the "fraud" actually lies.
