Expat from Post. Still loving The Big Apple, pizza, philology, honest discourse, retirement. Not likely to follow reposts-only. Nix to dogma, attention thirst, lack of civility. Serious or silly - it's all good. Teach me something. #expostie #expostnews
True. She could just be retreating for a re-group and come back on the scene as "New and Improved" Marge.

But considering the MI of Trumpworld, they've surely tried to bully her with something. It's what they do.

I really do think she was coerced, and it had to be by something big.
November 22, 2025 at 3:45 AM
Um, yes, that's exactly what was said. Did you mean to say "lawful orders" just now, Ma'am?

Wow, Donald is really running scared. So much handshaking and kissing up. Behavior he usually reserves for despots.

Total BS about how he loves NYC. He hates that he's reviled here and couldn't sell us his toxic snake oil.

Don't trust him, Mr. Mayor.

A word that turns up frequently in both American and British crossword puzzles.

It's amazing what a credible potential Congressional challenger candidate can do to remind you why you're in Congress and who you represent.

But -- sic parvis magna.

Oh yes! "Jumping the shark" is exactly the right description for what's happening. (Without The Fonz's good will of course.)

The empty sound and fury of effete, meaningless gestures and rants.

But why? Something going on between her and "Federal Official 1?"

And they're Sanskrit numerals anyway.

They probably think it's a job only for gays, so it has no importance.

Right. Cause rich people never need nurses.

This discrediting of professional services is going to bite the Haves on the a** big time. Then watch how quick they'll shell out for help.

If anyone is willing to help, that is.

Honestly, are they so clueless? Doing something like that will only rally voters to make sure to do everything they can to cast their votes, no matter when.

And there's no master copy? They marked up the one and only original? Not likely.

I've been saying it from the start: narcissists don't kill themselves.

So very many names are coming to light. That makes for quite a few possible operatives, both domestic and foreign.

As you age, you appreciate the truism that everything old is new again.

I get a kick out of reading the excitement of posters learning a previously unknown etymology. I already know a whole lot of them. I'm pleased to see others finding out how cool etymology is to lovers of language and culture.

What? A politician doing backroom deals?? Unheard of!!!

Get real, Nancy.

I'm thinking of adults I knew in my childhood (c. 1950s). I'm pretty sure I learned of the practice from them (not doing it, but mentioning it).

Blowing a raspberry is also called a Bronx cheer, which I believe was originally a name for a fart as well.

But it got gentrified.

A batch of not too sweet chocolate chip cookies just finished baking in the new oven.

Another suggestion I've come across in several sources is that "Mr. Jones" was a code for a drug dealer, and saying "I'm looking for Mr. Jones" signalled that the speaker was looking for drugs.
November 19, 2025 at 3:13 PM
That irks me too. It's tantamount to saying "someone has a claim to her, so don't mess with other peoples' possessions."

Don't I have a right to be safe for my own sake? Does it have to be put in terms of who I belong to?

It's true that we can't trust any of these coattail-hangers, and yet there are times when the enemy of one's enemy . . . etc., etc.

I do have a few doubts about whether the current Dem leadership can effectively take advantage of this development. Well, more than a few.

I'm in this district. Hakeem has fierce loyalists in the northern part of the district, but the southern section, where a great many Russian, Asian & Middle Eastern immigrants live, is not such a sure thing. Nevertheless, ousting Hakeem won't be easy.

Should be interesting
