My ballot for the special election is counted! Our parks in Portland are an invaluable asset to our city and voting yes on the levy is a no-brainer for me.

On October 27, our departed pets return so I made a humble ofrenda for my Truman.

As a Latina who is often asked by strangers whether I am Asian (or even “what” I am), I could not agree more with Miss Manners’s response here!
DEAR MISS MANNERS: I live in a place where many cultures and nationalities abound. When I was at a restaurant with friends the other day, we were served by a comely waitress. My friend commented on the beauty of the “Asian waitress,” but I thought she was Latina. Is there a tactful and proper way to ask? Or are we better off not asking such a question at all? None of us wishes to offend anyone. GENTLE READER: Then please just order your food. Miss Manners reminds you that the waitress is not a menu item of whom you may inquire the ingredients. She has work to do and may not want to explain her background to you.

The local news just led in to a story about that man’s J-6 pardons with a clip of his address from January 7 (the day after) when he denounced the mob and called it a heinous “attack” clearly because he was forced to.

Y’all, we took the day off and skied Meadows today. It was my first time skiing since my early 20s and tbh I was a little scared going in. Would it be like riding a bicycle? Was I going to bite it and seriously injured myself? I’m proud to share I’ve still got it. We had a perfect bluebird day.
