Fans of YA fiction, particularly those who go for historical fiction, will love this one. The attention to research and details of the migration across the country in the mid-1880s, the people, customs and practices is exquisite. Do Not Miss.

Apathy is not acceptable. If we don't stand up for the 82 year old grandpa in Allentown PA who lost his green card, who will stick up for us when Trump decides our grandparents being born in a different country automatically sends us back to the old country?

For inspiration, faith, and/or strength in the face of adversity, the incomparable Pamela Thibodeaux and her stories are the answer hands down. Her characters are memorable, well drawn and individual right down to their speech patterns.

On a scale of 1-5, Tempered Journey merits a 6.

This is more than “townies vs summer people”, it's something, something evil, going back decades. Dry humor and dialogue, true to each character, brings smiles and nods for devotees of Ludlum and Drury, Maxim and LeCarre.

On a scale of 1-5, The Summer Guests merits a 7.
