I acquired a lovely piece of baltic amber today. It looks like a completely different gem from every angle. A drop of whisky warmth that is at least 40 million years old.
Or, as #GoodOmens fans will tell you, a joke that the palaeontologists haven't figured out yet...😉
A piece of baltic amber from Poland. It is about 36mm x 28mm at its longest and widest points. It is an irregular shape: rounded at one end, widening, and then tapering to a point at the other. It is backlit by the sun and displays a strong swirl of gold and orange tones throughout the gem. There is evidence of some organic matter within the piece, but it also conveys a sense of clarity. I get all antsy here because Aziraphale is missing out on the glorious vision (literally) spread out before him like some goth smorgasbord. The fingers, throat, stance, waist, the...legs. A whole snaky picnic. And Aziraphale is looking up! UP, FFS!

This is an old picture of Flynn, but it's a favourite of mine. This view no longer exists as, in the intervening 4 years, some building has taken place by new neighbours. I miss this rather gloomy vista.

It was shot near where I live. Sadly, this was before my GO mental illness and I was not DT fan at this time, so I didn't wander down to the village when this was filming on our main street.

After reading a post about Derek Jacobi earlier today, I decided to re-watch "I, Claudius". Wouldn't you know it, there's a serpent and an Aziraphale-like mosaic in the opening titles...there's no escaping them, is there? 😇🐍

Had such a zen start to the day. First, while I was watching the news, I saw Michael Sheen in a trailer for the BBC World Service. Then I saw two lovely deer prancing along the side of the icy road as I drove to work.
