Safari 26.1 arrives today. What does this bring developers? Many improvements to Anchor Positioning. A refactor of how WebKit handles CSS Units, bringing relative units (rlh, ic, cap, cqw, cqi, cqmin, cqmax) to SVG for the first time. And many other fixes.

Cannot create a custom feed in reddit.com with Safari. I just experienced this on macOS Safari 26.1 RC. It's been a bug for *two years*.

Gosh I really want to stop using other browsers, but it's really death by a thousand cuts in Safari these days.

Meanwhile, Messenger as a web app under Chrome is half of the RAM usage.

I'm no Chrome lover. I want to be using Safari. But something about the old story of Chrome being a resource hog on macOS isn't adding up these days.

2GB of RAM usage to run Messenger as a web app under #safari is crazy.

Who remembers when we used the term "flaming" on the net?

Meta is retiring the Messenger desktop app in mid-December. They advise using the web version of messenger.com in your browser from now on and delete the app.

Messenger.com does not support video or voice calling in Safari.

For a guy who isn't crazy about spiders… I sure have a lot of spider decorations.

Reflecting on my 35-year career, I can't recall a single positive outcome from any Microsoft sales transaction with any enterprise I've worked with.

Tron: Ares was actually pretty good. Nowhere near as bad as I expected.

*2* regressions found in Outlook so far in just 11 minutes of usage.

You will never convince me that shipping fast and often was a good thing for industry.

Heads up: AWS suddenly requires ec2:DescribeAvailabilityZones on your node role policy for EKS to update AWS-ebs-csi-driver. They did not fix the canned node role policy. Make one yourself and attach it to your node IAM role to update.

Copilot is *the worst* at doing anything related to my job and I am sick of being forced to use it, and threatened if I don't.

I used to enjoy self-hosting email.
Now try to avoid using email entirely.

Now I want to look into hosting my own git service. Gitea looks interesting.

Truly amazed at the amount of ads in Meta apps now. Practically unusable.

Personal take: if your writing is so vague and obscure that endless YouTube videos have to be created to explain the story, you failed.

There are a few things going on:
- iPhone Air is a massive step toward an iPhone fold and a MacBook/iPad dual device
- The C1X and N1 are a testbed prior to M5 inclusion
- The neural accelerators on the GPUs are Apple's first step toward providing an Nvidia alternative to GPU/AI on their devices.

The two most rage-inducing daily trends in this industry:
- Interrupting my clicks to beg me to use your shitty AI
- Interrupting my clicks to "Try it out" when I just need to get something done.

FFS stop it.

Looking at you, Atlassian and Microsoft.

I am so done with using AWS for personal projects. The signin pages are a nightmare, especially with control tower accounts and multiple logins in password managers. It's a disaster. So tired of it.

Here I come, DigitalOcean.

An Apple prediction that I am manifesting with vibes:
They do something with Apple Silicon to present themselves as an LLM model alternative to Nvidia GPUs... mainly by reducing the price of DRAM. Seems like they could corner a part of the market that is starting to figure out Nvidia's scam.

The amount of notifications I get from AI software begging me to use it is... substantial. What does that say about them?
