Last weekend we took Franny to an outdoor Polish festival. She's chased pigeons in Pioneer Square and gone to baby gymnastics at the local community center. I don't worry about her going out into the city, I worry about her eating random plants or running into the street.

I think about this. Like, the rhetoric about Portland being a war zone was ridiculous even before I had a kid, but feels doubly so now that I am responsible for keeping a tiny person from danger.

People slam the "name and seal" flags but the only one I cordially dislike is Colorado's, which looks like the logo of a sports team.

I mean, this is Living In A Society! Sometimes you will have to share a space with people who interact with a space in a different way than you. When I was a kid I certainly resented having to share spaces with *adults* sometimes.
