It’s not like the mode takes much effort. Nearly every mode I’ve seen just replaces the spider with an unanimated model. It probably takes away less than an hour of dev time.

I think the problem is that in many games parrying isn’t intuitive. In a game like metal gear rising or sekiro it’s a mechanic the whole game is based around. Meanwhile in darksouls it’s something you have to try over and over until you get it often dying in the process which can feel pretty bad.

I’d argue unless the game has fun traversal options, lacking fast travel often decreases immersion because now I have to end up walking a route I’ve already taken where every quest is cleared and every enemy is dead.

Regardless of quality ep 8 burned through every story hook set up in 7 while neglecting to set up anything for episode 9. say what you will but I feel like having the middle of your trilogy set the finale up for failure isn’t a great move
