Is Modern Day Human Sacrifice necessary?

One of the ideas that I'm interested in exploring within my project is the necessity of it. Should we continue to use and benefit from low paid workers overseas? But it's not so simple.

We often think of creatures that feed on fear- but what about creatures that feed on joy (cults?) with a fear creature at least you KNOW something is off and wrong but with a creature that feeds on joy maybe it's more insidious, more effective. New methods of harvesting energy?

y'all I just heard a recording of one my compositions, The Crane Devouring yesterday and they introduced me as a THIRTEENTH GRADER from the University of Massachusetts. (The performance was in Texas)

That was unexpected but the piece was incredibly performed! Even with the graphics!

I'm an author and composer writing a cool new magical realism novel about sacrifices, inequality, and who we choose to sacrifice (ie. Marginalized groups in justice systems), what we choose to sacrifice (culture vs industry)
