The biggest problem with the government age verification app will be that it is based on this EU prototype which is easy for kids to share age proofs through QR code session fixation. The Fido Alliance have proposed a fix using Bluetooth LE, but that will take time to be implemented. Link in bio

You can also test the prototype Age Verification app for Android yourself by downloading the apk file from here github.com/eu-digital-i.... After you have set it up with your own proof of age go to verifier.ageverification.dev to test it.

The app only holds a proof of age, not PPS or MyGovID. Users cannot be tracked. Publishers do not get access to a database of IDs. All the publisher sees is a proof of age.

The Irish government's digital identity wallet (GDW) and age verification app will not be mandatory. Publishers will be able to implement other age verification systems as well. Consumers will have choices.
