(But I still wanted to share it.)
I forget what kind of bird this was. I forget why I never made it into something more. But it's some kind of little frog-mouthed grey gremlin bird sleepily complaining, "What the actual fuck, Cheryl? It's three in the got damn morning." It's a very rough digital sketch, colored messily.

There's a reason Enaka is the protagonist. Not only are they integral to the plot, but they're also fun to write & follow.

But who would they be without Theso & Cavid smack-talking back (affectionately)? They fuel each other & cover weaknesses.

Basically a major local deity/nature spirit (dragon, volcano, moon, etc) that was infected by the senka blight and corrupted into a high-level demonic force of nature. There are six of them, and they're nation-ending sentient apocalypses. This excerpt is from Echo Sight about it:
“A Domain is a blighted, highly powerful earth spirit, like the Aieko River but evil,” she said tersely. “Top of the food chain. Ruin incarnate. Former guardian spirits of sacred places on ley lines. People don't see them and live to talk about it.” She exhaled carefully, steadying her breath. “I’ve never heard of defeating one.” “They’re about as preventable as a volcanic eruption,” I agreed. “There are six of them, as far as we know.” “Valaros, Endanos, Calister…” she recited. “Hennos, Kebolt, and Dreran,” I finished. “These things are the reasons we have trouble exploring the depths of our oceans or the vastness of space. Their aim is to seed more Sporelands and raze entire civilizations at a time. They’re the reason we lost so much technological advancement over the millennia. And my little piece of hardware here—” And at this I pulled my left leg from under me, stretching out my prosthetic for all to see, “—is what happens when you meet Kebolt on a good day, and he lets you go.” “Samien Daukiri,” Pella swore. “I wondered what happened to you. You’ve met a Domain?”

I describe senka-infected blood as tar-black, inky-black, but there are beautiful things like the sails of sleek Drasik ships returning from the open sea, the obsidian Rojak Tower that guards the pass to the Sporelands, & the holy Tunori Midnight Blades.

They're a Tunora (their word for phoenix shapeshifter). All the clans have some minor specialization due to wing/tail shape & color pattern. Enaka's birth clan was modeled after falcons, & Enaka specifically looks like a kestrel.

Fire control and rapid healing are the species' main powers.

Theso wears subtle eye makeup all the time. He thinks it looks nice (it does) & it makes him feel magical (lol bc he's an archmage).

Enaka doesn't usually wear any makeup. The black marks under their eyes are their clan marks, & Tunori are born with those.
A nonbinary phoenix shapeshifter with black, falcon-like birthmarks beneath their eyes. They wear an owl-feather cloak for the clan that adopted them. A man in a white suit with a green tie and earrings. There is some very subtle gold eye liner and glitter beneath each eye.
