Molly will be visiting the lands of the Lenape, Klamath, Shoshone Bannock, Diné, and Native Hawaiian in the coming days! Pumped for the respective communities Molly visits, and everyone who gets to learn more about them.

Watch them on the PBS KIDS app now or see when they air nationally near you.

On what is likely the last FULL week of episode releases for Molly of Denali, there’s some reeeeal good stuff airing! Molly and Grandpa Nat are traveling all over the Lower 48 and Hawaii to visit both volcanic activity sites and the Indigenous stewards of that land.

Watching a deceased whale get towed out of our “backyard” wasn’t on my bingo card for 2025. We were grateful the coast guard came to tow it away as this was about 2.5 hours from a high tide that was pushing straight to our house.

No official word on cause of death, but lots of speculation.

The episode, “Special Salmon,” is about respecting salmon, and the danger of what is happening to our salmon now, more prescient now than ever.

An adapted story of Fog Woman appears in one of the episodes of #mollyofdenali out this week, and boooyyyyy was I nervous about how it would look when all finished. But it turned out beautiful!

They’re all already up on the PBS KIDS app for free, or airing nationally throughout this week and coming weeks.

Amidst tough public broadcasting news and outlooks in recent days, we can still celebrate the work we did and usher this last season of stories out with pride. Four new episodes - eight new stories! - of Molly of Denali are airing this week on PBS and they’re almost entirely Indigenous-written! 💪🏽

We’re used to the neighborhood seal calmly bobbing along and watching us. But today he wanted to make a big splash! #alaska

This seal was fixated on Joe! Despite getting skunked, it was a nice night of fishing. 🎣

I timed it - this took me 20 SECONDS!

A legislative aid in D.C. told us that representatives absolutely can be impacted by call-ins and emails from their constituents.

My now-annual repost for summer solstice - just a look at Alaska’s “midnight sun.” It looks different here in Juneau, and even lighter the more north you get than where this was filmed in Anchorage.

Happy Solstice!

After years of development and two weeks of our third workshop, we finally heard the full Tlingit opera for the first time ever! 🎉👏🏽 Followed by the second and third performances, with invited guests. Lots of work still to go, but woohoo! We got an opera, folks!

“The members of the 34th Alaska State Legislature celebrate and honor the work of Vera Starbard, Alaska State Writer Laureate.”

I received a legislative citation today, sponsored and presented by Sen. Jesse Kiehl. Gunalchéesh! Now, Alaska, let’s go create more beautiful stories!

First week of Tlingit opera workshop #3 is in the books! It was a looooot but it’s really taking shape.

This week we covered Lingít language, Lingít movement plans, the history of the battles of Sitka, got a feel for the action happening in the libretto, and of course lots and lots of vocal work.

Day one of our final(?) workshop for the #Tlingit #opera! Two weeks of creative work, cultural diving, and amazing artists ahead. And fyi this stage today was just an #Indigenous POWERHOUSE! 💪🏽💪🏽
