I want a good modern peripheral for playing primarily modern games. Being that nearly every single one of those relies on the left thumbstick far more than a D-pad, said thumbstick should get the prime real estate

The thing is that I don't want it to play retro games. For reasons I'm not particularly interested in elaborating on, I can't use a keyboard. I also find the idea of a better PlayStation controller silly, because the only reason the PlayStation controller is still the shape that it is, is tradition.

This is what I don't like about Valve. It's their way or no way. The whole design of the controller upsets me. Why in the year 2025 are we prioritising a D-pad over the left thumbstick? The touch pads look profoundly inconvenient. Why is this setting not a switch or a button? Why the GRIPS?

And I can tell you from personal experience, the back glass is about to fall out. I don't know what those hinges are made of, but they corrode and then crumble like stale pastry.
