The 3000+ came in. She starts, but the fan is running slow and the system shuts down to prevent damage. No problem with that except that it is not easy anymore to find potent socket 462 coolers. Maybe I will adapt some fan to that cooler tomorrow. Just had to test that the CPU is booting.

So, the fastest 4 core that can run on my ecs Black mainboard is a Phenom II X4 964. Guess what is surprisingly cheap at the moment 😅

Well, The K7S7AG is here. Seems like old new stock. Max CPU is a Athlon XP3000+ with 333fsb (400 is out os spec but kinda supported) so I have some on eBay watch. This might become a Win98, Win XP dual boot. I have a voodoo 2 without a permanent home at the moment, but this seems to be a good place

Okay, hear me out. I don't hate the RX6400. Was it peak "not reading the room" for AMD? Yes.. but this is imo the definition for a Display Adapter. And prices are sliding into the right range. This asus has a way to big cooler. Only two display outs is wild tho.

Haven had an am2+ board in some time. It was more of an impulse tho. With box, manual and io shield.

Oh man.. she is here, and it seems like she did not have a tough life. I don't even know how to mangle that slot without other damage on the PCB. But testing is on the weekend.

I am really not sure I do the homelab stuff right.. on the other hand, that's just my personal wind down hobby. The right one got a new (but old) board. Dual E5 2680 V4 Xeons (28 cores 56 threats together) with 128 gigs. It doesn't make sense for me to have this kinda stupid system, it is fun tho..

Back in the days, when I worked at IT, we sold these in the thousands. Now two have a permanent home at my place. Quick test did boot into win 2k, and caps look overall good. I know that some parts are on the underengineered side, it was a budget board after all. Will not be pushed hard anymore.

Who does not know it, you stray through eBay and buy another multi CPU system.. on accident.. dual 2011 with two 14core xenon's (E5-2680 v4 Broadwell E) and 128 gig of ECC ram. I believe 512gb of ram might be doable on the cheap.

Soo.. did update the wire loom, changed the complete door wires on the hinge (old were drilled out), some VCDS configuration shenanigans and Viola. Sitting there does not really feel like an caddy anymore.

There are parts when you realize that Caddy's and Touran's are not brothers but more like distant cousins. Did you know the window rails are on an different lane? No? The door trim fits, I can modify the wire loom to work.. but I really did not expect to have the window not longer fitting.

New label maker, since my old one is on "long term lending" 😅. You don't need them, until you need them. I hate hand written labels on network, car wires and stuff. Specifically on my camper conversion I started, no way without proper labels.

I bought an Terra Laptop.. für super cheap. Core i5 2450m, 8gb ram. Swappable battery, that is still available. A really good base for car diagnostic software. I mean, could find an i7 for it, not sure tho.
