It's only been 1 morning so far, so the news is still fresh, but I think the words use was while I have the experience and know-how, I don't have the exact 'new skillset' they would be looking for to update the role to. >.<

Anything can happen, but it sounds like the upper managers are already talking about looking outside to fill that spot, so I don't have great hopes anymore.
