Mathias Vacek: "Negotiations are underway during the Giro about a new contract. I can only say that I will not continue with this team. I cannot give more information yet, but the negotiations look good."

Livesport Daily #522: Česká raketa na Giru útočí. Vím, že patřím do špičky, říká cyklista Vacek | Livesport.cz
Slavné Giro d’Italia má letos na programu svůj 108. ročník a na prvním opravdu velkém cyklistickém vrcholu letošního roku se ve skvělé formě ukazuje i Čech Mathias Vacek (22). Ten dokonce na několik d...

Seeing the reactions, I'd probably write it differently next time. Maybe I should have just written that it doesn't work with the Dutch riders.

I didn't think the team was doing it too badly, but they made some mistakes in previous years. That's all.

Yes, Matthew is a future top star. I saw him live last year at the Orleans GP on the climb to Kohútka (in our country), at that time I thought he was a pure sprinter and he normally beat the climbers there.👏🏼I've been hyping him since I saw it with my own eyes:) I have no problem with him and Jorgen.

I would really like Nordhagen to become the best in the world.I personally push him above Widar, Tores and others. But in the last year and a half he has already missed 6 races due to illness. And I ask myself, is it still a coincidence? For me, it's simply not, and there must be a problem somewhere
March 17, 2025 at 8:07 PM
You simply can't say that they are doing the best. And you often don't like those who criticize Visma. I ask who of those who moved to the main team from Devo became the pillars of the team and good riders? Kooij, and maybe the brothers Mick, Tim Dijke. Big mistake to let them leave. But who else?
March 17, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Yes, women's team - top work. If they don't get stolen by SD Worx, FDJ etc. after their contracts expire, then in 3/4 years the women's Visma will be a new top team. This year's transfer window for the women's team was great. 👏🏼

But I mean the development of young riders from the development team.

I wonder what's behind it. When they are able to get Jonas to such big watts. Today, top talents will choose UAE, Lidl, Red Bull first, but maybe even Soudal. And Visma has the second largest budget and it's not visible. Is it about bad scouting, training, or is there something more behind it?
March 17, 2025 at 7:41 PM
It is important to remember that Visma is no longer the No. 1 team on the transfer market. And given how many young riders careers have stagnated there, top talents simply don't want to go there as much anymore. For example, the difference between UAE/Lidl and Visma in how the riders improve is huge.

Yeah, I just wanted to give a full screen of his words:)
March 14, 2025 at 10:26 PM
And what would they do? Wout in current form would finish 13th. 💀
March 8, 2025 at 7:44 PM
Wout isn't even top 10.

Bretagne won Hirschi by big motopacing. And yes, they win races without Pogi because they have the best performance. Youngsters don't improve that much anywhere. But if they have to decide the race on the tactical side, and they are not that much better than the opponents, then often there is fuck-up.
March 1, 2025 at 9:02 PM
But since the Olympics I have been very happy with his level in the TT. 👍🏼 It hasn't looked good over the year before that, but it looks like he and the team have found a way to deal with the new cracks.
February 23, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Less and less success on the transfer market. The reason is both money and the fact that many young riders are not improving ať Visma.

The departure of Jumbo is perhaps a much bigger loss than cycling fans think. Looks like somewhere the team had to cut costs and important people started leaving...

in any way. Their nutritionist was "stolen" by Redbull and after a few weeks they posted on social media that they were looking for a replacement. From my point of view, few racing days compared to training and after the camps the riders are tired (the complete opposite UAE). And there's more.

Last year, Visma had the most injured and, unfortunately, the most sick riders of all teams, and that continues and nothing has changed. This is not a coincidence. The problem is not how Jonas rode today, but where Visma is heading with its system steps (problems). M. Zeeman was not replaced

But I don't think it can be compared. Rogla is often not 100% in his first race of the season, but Jonas is. And it's not about Jonas, he'll get to his top shape, but about the rest of the team. What Benoot, Kelderman, Wout etc looks like. At the UAE Tour, half of the team got sick.

Wout is washed. Most overrated after Mads in classics. 🤭

In my early years of watching, I was pretty much a Froome hayter, always praying for a Quintana win and always being disgusted and glad TDF was ending. I didn't know much about this sport in the past. Now even I have my favorite riders and my favorite team, but I'm not as hateful as before. 😅
February 13, 2025 at 5:53 PM
I was 9 years old and my dad was watching TDF. Wiggins won that year (2012). I started to enjoy it, and in the following years I watched the races that were broadcast by the Czech TV (spring classics, Swiss, TDF, WC). In 2020, I bought Eurosport, and since then I have been watching all the races.🙏🏼

And do we believe it? That's the same as Ineos saying their budget stayed the same, when at that time they lost Yates, DFM, Sivakov, Hart, Carapaz, van Baarle... You wrote about this yo too. I didn't always believe the team's statements, especially Visma.
