Epidemiologist and queen of curious chaos. I like to poke at things.
Everyday, I’m more and more speechless by how proud immigration officials are of their vile behaviour.

And where there are victims, paying them off is the “solution” (and I strongly support that they’re compensated, their lives are changed forever). One may quietly lose their job, but they continue to be celebrated and repeat offend at the next place.

3/ The reason “knowledge workers” (wtf ffs) protect learning is precisely cuz it’s so special and at the heart of truth. Now more than ever, truth needs to be fiercely protected to ensure it doesn’t get buried by insecure takes on knowledge like that pub.

2/ It’s got nothing to do with gatekeeping knowledge. There’s a reason that degrees take so many years, why we sacrifice a life for it. It’s fucking hard, nuanced. Life after is brutal too. There’s a reason why that one publication can take 6 months to write.

1/ I’m an academic. I recently worked in a large dept in my uni as the only academic. Staff proudly used AI for “technical” writing (cringe fluff), it was praised in meetings.

I was very publicly shamed for not using AI.

Using AI “proved” that being a scientist is “easy”, anyone can do it!

Thank you! It was the straw that broke this camel’s back and I’ve just left. It was just astounding how proud they were about using AI, and then there’s this article. Knowledge is hard to master and that takes time, but that’s its magic (+ the pain!). It’s sad seeing what’s happening to learning.

The author should join my previous department. Using AI to write was praised and celebrated - I, the academic, was shamed, as AI “proves” being an academic is easy.

I came here looking for this comment. This is what science is - it’s knowledge, and knowledge should always be evolving.
