It looks like the consensus is that something between 2000 and 3000 is the sweet spot. When I read stuff, anything under 2000 feels rushed or artificially led to a cliffhanger

I like the serialized format of the webnovels for that reason. I'd die if I had to edit a couple of hundred pages of my novel in one go...
