The gravest threat to Democracy is not communism, trans people, autism, immigrants, or even China - it's the extreme aggregation and accumulation of wealth by a tiny minority who believe that by virtue of having a great deal of money, they deserve the right to control others.

We’re all learning the hard way right now that democracy and capitalism (a political system and an economic system) are fundamentally incompatible over the long run. Capitalism results in consolidation of wealth, and Democracy requires decentralization of power. It’s time for a new economic system.

All I can conclude is that those of who are celebrating, or who are saying "checks and balances" will protect our democracy, are either: (a) hateful sociopaths, (b) so completely indoctrinated by the koolaid that you've lost all capacity for critical thinking, or (c) have your head deep in the sand.

I'd suggest that if you're not feeling at least a little terror right now, you're not paying attention. Never in my lifetime has it been quite so clear what the world is about.
