tiktoks about how they want their partners to “use” or “abuse” them, idealizing serial killers, etc. i think there just needs to be more transparency in this realm, especially when more than 90% of those dark romance titles are explicit sex/kink scenes.

it’s not about being “puritan”, it’s generally about safety. these books don’t introduce these topics in a nuanced and practical way, rather in a brute form. there isn’t talk about safety, or rules, or “safe words” and once young women (the PREDOMINANT audience) are exposed to it, it becomes normal
