They are in bedtime attire, with Alastor wearing a simple pair of shorts while Lucifer sports only a pink sweater, his rear bare.

Lucifer has been awoken deep into the night by the usual litany of nightmares. Usually, this is the norm - but today he reaches a limit, and with it, a breaking point. Tears spill over and sobs wrack his little body as he curls into himself, knees to his chest. Alastor, asleep next to him, awakes. He sits up, gathering the little king into his lap and wrapping his arms around the miserable figure. He hums a quiet tune, something familiar and warm.

They sit together, with Lucifer's back to Alastor's chest. Lucifer rubs at his eyes with one hand, while the other grips at one of Alastor's arms. Lucifer's tail drapes over one of Alastor's legs before looping around behind them both to encircle them together. Lucifer sobs, shaking.

Soon, under Alastor's gentle words and calming presence, he will feel his raging emotions ease, his inner turmoil soothed for the time being. He returns to sleep, at peace in Alastor's arms.

Text accompanies the image, with Lucifer only uttering sounds of misery along with a broken apology for waking his bed partner, as well as for the source of his melancholy - his sins.

Alastor, quiet, calm: "Hush now, mon ange. It's all ok."

And quieter, an admission: "I hate seeing you like this."
