Now, I am very careful with what I say ‘Yes’ to. Almost too careful. But I need the space to think right now. Maybe it’s a phase. Maybe I’m just tired. But at least I can read more and connect some dots along the way.

I need to create space to let ideas flow in, whether through reading, writing or meditation. And we don’t live in a world that allows this space, without careful guardrails (e.g. academia) or intentional planning.

For these foundations to be built, I need space.
Now, I have that space. But unstructured vacuums begets entropy.
At this point, I almost need to book calendar slots for ‘space’ or ‘thinking time’.

This is crazy to me.
That means certain books I read just won’t stick with me or impact me, because I’m not in the right headspace. Meanwhile, there is some level of writing I just can’t reach because I don’t have the foundations built in.

Because there was no space in my brain. I was in a busy masters program, busy thinking about consulting industry and busy with life. I didn’t have space for other perspectives or to ‘think’ the way writing demands.

I also read my writing during that period and it was…bad. Not in a grammatical sense but there wasn’t a lot of thought put into it.
Why did this happen?
