The words are not just words. They are infrastructure for what is materially possible in society. We need the clearest, most precise, and strongest language we can muster. And that means you need to 💥fight back hard💥 when people try to steal the language required to name and understand problems.

If eg you switch “equity” to “opportunity,” you are not only adopting weak language that the right prefers because it cares nothing of outcomes, you are stranding other scholars whose identities and concepts HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE WORDS. This makes those scholars and communities even more vulnerable.

Honestly I think this should have been seen as bigger news, but then again I have already given up on the loan forgiveness I thought would be there when I took this debt on.
