Protest posters are cool. Want to know what's also cool? Adding in alt-text so people who use screen readers can know what they say.

If your organization is sharing posts for Global Accessibility Awareness Day: Like all images shared on Bluesky, images in posts with the #GAAD or #GAAD2025 hashtags need alt text. Posts about accessibility come off as hollow and performative if they aren't accessible and don't have alt text.

If you're non-disabled and are furious about recent ableist comments, one material thing you can do is ask disabled and chronically ill people in your life if they need help with anything. They may say no and respect that, but we live in an ableist society where asking for help is hard.

Still fuming about that press conference. The way RFK Jr. talks about autism is not just scientifically wrong—it’s deeply offensive.

Calling autistic kids "damaged" or implying they’ve been "lost" or "stolen" doesn’t just spread misinformation—it dehumanizes real people.

We know now why he has autism.
He has a gene deletion, 16p11.2

It's deeply insulting to say this was preventable.

Sadly my best advice to young patients is to bring a male advocate with you if at all possible.

Even in 2025, having a man in the room can drastically improve outcomes.

Failing that, having ANY advocate is better than none. Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself.

For more tips on advocacy:
How to be an Effective Advocate for a Disabled Patient
Disabled patients are rightfully terrified of being hospitalized. We are stripped of our agency and control in a hospital environment. Having an effective advocate can vastly improve the experience.

The Trump Regime has deleted DOJ guidance to businesses on complying with the Americans With Disabilities Act.

25% of Americans live with a disability.

Trump cannot delete the ADA, and he cannot delete disabled Americans. We are not going back to asylums and sanitariums.
