Perhaps too narrow, but I quite like epubs.siam.org/doi/book/10....

I would start with fixing BaremetalPI that seems to be the best long-term idea, but you likely will have to delve into technical manuals or library code to adapt it to your PI.

If you can get some play time, or buy an remarkable 2 used I would totally recommend that.

Like transcribing notes written by hand into latex. I engage more deeply with the text I had written and once it is imported into latex it is already quite a bit better.

But it is a one-way street... For the most part. I do sometimes import the PDF and write hand annotations.

I would not want an Android device.
I would need to force myself to not install an email client or slack...

I did write significant portions of my thesis, or initial paper drafts on my remarkable. For me it forced a beneficial editing step in moving the content from the device.

It's a very limited device, but I tend to enjoy those.

My favorite camera is a Fujitsu X100, precisely due to its limited nature.

I did end up buying the keyboard sleeve for my remarkable, which did indeed turn it into the modern equivalent of a typewriter...

I bought the prior Gen used and that made it a fair price. I see it as a portable legal pad, and it has been very nice.

I love the no-notification environment for writing initial drafts, but the workflows are all fairly high friction.

(I wish I could write/sync to a latex processor)
