I think there's definitely a spectrum though, between "staying will mentally destroy you" and "Putting up with this BS is business as usual that you can totally handle" and there's people resigning in both situations.

I think in a lot of cases, the options boil down to "Do evil as requested, get fired for ignoring instructions, or quit in a high-profile way". Sticking around to fight is an option sometimes but it can still require selling a little piece of soul to even play along.
