Basically the 5-6 debate sketches from that season filled with stunt casting and alumni doing the same shtick that usually ran 10+ minutes, and how a few were in the post-monologue spot so Trumpwin could be the cold open, making both segments feel like a self made requirement that took up airtime.

It’s really teetering on the idea they have to do that sketch even when it’s bumped from the cold open.

Similar to back in 2019 when the guest star debate pieces just had to be done even when it was bumped for Baldwin, until the Eddie Murphy show when they “solved” the issue by combining the two.

Honestly, they’re probably better off toning down any political material. 9 times out of 10 it’s pretty lousy, and it surely doesn’t age well on rewatch.

I can’t predict entirely what this means for the upcoming season, but if you put Mikey, Heidi, Ego and Chloe in a lineup and had to choose which two should go, I would’ve picked the other two.
