I've found a use for AI, hallucinations notwithstanding: describe a person, then ask it to suggest an unexpected Christmas gift idea.

Cool feature... now I'll be the first to know when George Orwell finishes his next book!

Google Maps has suddenly decided, after me living here 17+ years, that the construction site next to my home has my address in addition to being its own & my house is the same number but on a different (non-existent) street than homes to either side of me.

I Suggested Edit & now it's worse. Help!

#Pluribus Q's:

If they can't allow harm to animals, must they actively prevent it? Must they stop wildlife preying on wildlife? If not, they'd be able to let nature take its course on livestock/pets

p.s. loved the celebrity cameo

p.p.s. if I was her, I'd demand a shorter answering machine message

One way getting older helps my physical fitness: I spend a lot more time than I used to walking around the house trying to figure out where I left my glasses. So... exercise.

Been watching the Beetlejuice sequel, and -- sorry for the naive question -- is this what it's like to be on drugs?

Apparently I wrote this nearly 30 years ago, but it still works...

I have advised my family that if I die, try turning off the power and back on in case it helps.

Account creation/sign-in should have an "I *am* a robot" checkbox. It'd be amusing how many attempts it would catch.

Contemplating whether, if I were to enter the US right now, and they had access to my full bsky posting history... would I be allowed in?

Remembering my high school best friend's favourite Shakespeare quote: "out, out damned Spot! For you have soiled the carpet and there'll be no treats for you!"

Upload failed. Reason: Failure. Thanks so much for that elaboration.

I really would like to be able to write just one message without autocorrect changing a word two words back on me to something I didn't wasn't it to be.

Early 90s I sold my software by mail order, pay by cheque or money order. I'd bring the cheques to the bank in bulk.

Teller stops on one: is this a joint account?

Me: huh?

Teller: is this a joint account with AL?

"To" line says "al portador." Bank claimed to speak Spanish, but I guess not.

Spoiler for Upload finale: IMHO, would've hit harder without the ring drive, but Nora'd been approached by Dennis in Montreal 7+ months later (guessing timeline based on Ingrid) and told "you're hard to find, but a mutual friend wanted you to have this." Her not checking what was on it was stupid.

I just accidentally saw my profile pic in iOS, which apparently I haven't updated for more than 11 years. Not something you want to see as your birthday approaches.

For me "TDS" means @thedailyshow.com. Everyone should have TDS in their lives.

Just noticed the nutritional info on the bag of pretzels I'm eating quotes the number for 2 cups of pretzels, a very natural measure of pretzel quantity.

I remember the dawn of the home computer with the TRS-80 (Model I). Do my kids see me the way I see those who remember the days before electricity?!?

It is a statistical reality that my backup media has failed more often than my primary drives have.
