Got 3 of 4 questions right on University Challenge, about bands who started at The Haçienda in Manchester. New Order, A Guy Called Gerald (I missed that one), 808 State, and The Chemical Brothers. Given I love all these bands but didn't know the connection, I need to spend some time on Spotify.

Doing better on my desire to read more this year, after a rocky start. Read Days of Shattered Faith by @aptshadow.bsky.social and currently reading Red Rising #6, Light Bringer, by @piercepressure.bsky.social. Then it's back to Tchaikovsky's Shroud. Then...? Will take recommendations.

Got two of three University Challenge questions right on Ron Gilbert's SCUMM engine which powered some of my favourite childhood games, Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle. Was just telling the missus about the SCUMM Bar in Monkey Island when... Boom! Five points. Amiga A1200 for the win.

It's nearly the end of Feb and my new year's resolution to read more has so far failed (stress, man). But I've just noticed that @aptshadow.bsky.social has released at least two books since I last engaged with social media and damn if that isn't the motivation I need. Thanks Adrian. :)

So every year I say "I will read more this year!" and every year I never quite meet my one-book-per-month reading challenge on Goodreads. But in 2025 I want to re-read everything Iain (M.) Banks wrote, in publication order, so I can finally read his last book, The Quarry, for the first time.
