Regarding the fundamental principle "pure things are safe to move around".
I'd expand it to "standardised things are safe to move around".
A few examples: IP and HTTP protocols, the ECMAScript standard, the Web standards, POSIX, etc

React component is standardised. A JS function is standardised 1/2

i think the @react.dev Compiler team could include more of this type of messaging. i'm being a bit inflammatory here (and Haskell may not the best analogy), but the principle of "pure things are safe to move around" is fundamentally simple and has been known for decades. teach it to new generation!

Small study on TDD at North Carolina State:

“92% of developers believed that TDD yields higher quality code, 79% thought that TDD promotes simpler design and 71% thought the approach was noticeably effective.”

Other studies with similar results quoted as well…

That's called Appeasement.
For 11 years and 2 months the Great Powers have refused to fight and defend Europe from the russian invaders.

Out of cowardice and stupidity, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and France have left Ukrainians to defend alone while giving them the weakest of support.

Ruslan and Margaryta Vynohrad — mother and son captured together at Azovstal — hadn’t seen each other in 3 years. Ruslan thought his mom had been exchanged long ago, kept writing her letters.

Today, they reunited… by chance, on the bus during the exchange. A moment beyond words.

Wow. I didn't realise that Ukraine is so powerful.
Slovak PM Robert Fico claims Ukraine "ordered" the Slovak government to be overthrown, alleging 160 people received instructions to organize protests & seize govt buildings.

Ukraine will receive a new batch of F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands in 2025.

In addition to supplying more aircraft, the Netherlands will continue training Ukrainian pilots, engineers, and technicians.

Faster TS in Node.
Landed a PR that integrates TypeScript transpilation into the Node.js compile cache ✨

When benchmarking files of 500-600+ bytes, type stripping is 65% faster and full transform is 128% faster (it should be more significant on bigger files though, because it's a cache)

This integrates TypeScript into the compile cache by caching the transpilation (either type-stripping or transforming) output in addition to the V8 code cache that's generated from the transpil...

Lesser known fact that Hitler’s main aim - to eradicate all jews - counted 11 million of expected executions. 3.5 million lived in Ukraine. Hence he attacked USSR.
But he killed 5 million people in Ukraine. 1.5 - Jews. 3.5 - Ukrainians.
Out of 6 million dead jews every third one lived in Ukraine.

Our brains memorise much better during emotional moments. Hence we remember songs we love but not the mundane stuff like passwords.
Brains are funny.

I can remember every word to a song I haven't heard in 20 years but I've got no clue what my email password is.

That’s the reason I like dumb cars, not the smart feature saturated cars.
I don't want my fridge to have a camera or Wi-Fi. I don't want my dishwasher to be smart. I don't want my washing machine to text me.

In fact, I kinda miss knobs and dials and knowing big appliances would last 20 years and could still be repaired.

As someone who knows the legislation a little more than an average Ukrainian, I must admit that the legislation is so far away. It will take a decade to align with the EU standards.
🇺🇦🇪🇺 Ukraine has officially begun pre-accession talks with the European Union, Prime Minister Shmyhal announced. The process includes external screening of Ukrainian legislation to assess its alignment with EU standards—a key early step toward full European integration.
